Trance™ is a dream to wear. Featuring thermo-regulating HVAC (Heating,
Ventilation and Air Conditioning) linings with silver-embedded X-Static®,
the shoe moves heat and moisture out and away from the foot for a cool,
comfortable foot bed. With dynamic, fluid-filled HydroFlow® units,
resilient, shock-dampening e-1™ and e-2™ compounds, and a PDRB™ to control

HydroFlow ST-XL® optimizes cushioning and stability, while forefoot
HydroFlow® provides customized cushioning to the forefoot. Engineered

Dual Density DRB Accel™ is a high density molded TPU engineered into
the midfoot for torsional stability. A softer density is placed on the
lateral for a smooth ride, and a firmer density is placed on the medial for
added stability. Crumple Zone configuration creates a smoother heel strike
and allows a more natural gait. Progressive Diagonal Rollbar (PDRB™):
A dual density post is bio-mechanically engineered to allow for progressive
pronation control as the foot rolls inward and creates a smoother transition
from the midstance phase into the propulsion phase. e-1™, a midsole/outsole
compound, works in conjunction with HydroFlow® and S-257™ to
progressively dampen the forces of energy that occur during the contact
phase. e-2™, a midsole/outsole compound, is used to enhance resilience under
the metatarsals, resulting in a more powerful propulsion. New, full length
PU platform, consisting of a second durometer PU foam engineered into the
top layer of the midsole, provides more cushioning from heel to toe and
enhances stability on the medial side of the forefoot.

UPPER: Microfiber upper materials
wrap and support the foot. Simplified lacing system provides a secure fit.
Comfort collar design, with soft, microfiber collar and tongue linings,
keeps softest upper materials on the foot. New, X-Static® linings: Silver
fibers woven throughout the internal linings keep the temperature inside the
shoe regulated while wiping out within two hours 99% of the odor causing
bacteria that it comes in contact with. 360 degrees of 3M Scotchlite®
reflectivity increases nighttime visibility. Internal thermoplastic heel
counter helps stabilize the rearfoot. The upper is made of Element™ air
mesh, a new, denier-gradient engineered textile that transports moisture
vapor away from the foot. The air mesh is incredibly ventilated to evaporate
moisture rapidly, resulting in superior comfort. New, HVAC sockliner with
X-Static® combines the conformity and cushion of EVA, the resiliency of PU
and the temperature management of X-Static® to set the standard in
performance footbeds. Internal Support Sleeve (ISS) helps the upper "wrap"
the foot. S-257™ Cushsole provides unsurpassed cushioning and durability to
the foot.
OUTSOLE: Sponge rubber forefoot
offers extra cushioning. Engineered Hyper-Pod™ Configuration: Midsole and
outsole components engineered to set the foot up in an efficient, balanced
position from heel strike to toe-off, offering maximum stability and
flexibility. Brooks HPR Plus™ in the heel strike area represents the
ultimate in outsole durability. Crumple Zone configuration creates a
smoother heel strike and allows a more natural gait. |
- DRB Accel™ : To promote
natural movement between the heel and forefoot, Brooks
developed the DRB Accel™. This component utilizes varying
durometers of thermoplastics which provide the torsional
midfoot support runners need.
- E-Fusion [e-0™ e-1™ e-2™] :
e-0™ is a new engineered outsole material that delivers
unsurpassed skid and abrasion resistance compared to
traditional outsole materials
- Element™ This upper
technology provides weather protection while ensuring
breathable comfort. Its superior microfiber construction
shelters feet from the elements in a light, supple, quiet
fabric that allows heat-laden moisture vapor to escape.
- High Performance Rubber :
HPR is a super-durable rubber compound developed specifically
by Brooks. This rubber provides greater resistance to high
wear areas of the outsole, such as the heel, increasing the
life of the shoe.
- HVAC Our Heating,
Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technology is
engineered to quickly and effectively move heat and moisture
to the vented areas of the shoe for an easy escape.
Thermo-conducting, silver-infused X-Static® fabric is placed
in the shoe's hottest areas, creating a chimney through which
heat is effectively run out of the shoe. The result is a dry,
thermally balanced footbed and comfort on the run.
- HydroFlow® : Brooks'
patented, silicon-based system is the most unique and
effective cushioning system ever applied to a running shoe.
Its fluid-filled center chamber dampens shock at impact and
dynamically disperses fluid at a controlled rate around the
heel cushioning, stabilizing and rebounding on every stride.
Plus, it's engineered to never wear out.
- PDRB - the Diagonal Rollbar
: When the foot comes in contact with the ground, it has a
natural tendency to pronate. To help control this movement, we
developed the Diagonal Rollbar™. This patented, wedge-shaped
piece of high density foam is positioned on the medial side of
the midsole to reduce the rate and speed of pronation.
- Podular Technology® :
Brooks' patented Podular Midsole/Outsole configurations,
MC-Pod, Stable-Pod, Hyper-Pod and Cush-Pod, are engineered to
specifically meet the different types of runner's needs. By
anatomically engineering a system of "pods" into the midsole
and outsole around bio-mechanically correct flex grooves it
enables the shoe to bend and flex more naturally while still
supporting the foot at its most critical points.
- Substance 257™ : This unique
midsole compound is formulated to resist com-pression and
rebound more quickly after impact than standard EVAs used in
other brands. S-257 has been tested to be 15% more durable
than EVA, which means your 400th mile has the same great ride
as your first.
